Floyd Arnold Farncombe born to Alan and Elsie Farncombe September 10, 1939 passed away in his home at Parkland place in Melfort on February 18, 2024.

Floyd was one of 4 children and grew up in Lac Vert, Sk where his parents owned and operated the local garage.

December of 1964 Floyd married his first wife Adele whom he fathered 2 children with, Tannis and Trent. Shortly after being married they moved to Melfort where they purchased a home at the end of Park Avenue. One of Floyd’s first matters of business at the new home was to rid the neighborhood of a pesky crow that had been waking the whole street up regularly. Anyone who knew Dad, knows exactly how he accomplished this, whether he was living in town or not. The neighbors spoke highly of his excellent marksmanship and were happy to be rid of the crow. In 1975 they purchased the Autobody Center (ABC) and later Beacock’s towing moving mobile homes around Saskatchewan.

Floyd was a very accomplished hunter, and enjoyed anything outdoors. He was also a fantastic cook and enjoyed cooking anything from whole hogs in a pit, to bananas, to crayfish. If you could eat it, he could cook it. He spent many days out with the family at the cabin at Kipabiskau pulling skis, tubes and knee boards all day long, only to stop for “beer breaks.”  He also always looked forward to attending the annual fire hall “wing ding.”

In the 90’s Floyd and Janice met. They spent many days out at the cabin playing crib or out on the boat.  Floyd and Janice had one son together in May of 1993(Cody Farncombe). As a family they spent many summers camping at various lakes around Saskatchewan and even into BC. Floyd and Cody were almost inseparable. Whether Floyd was hunting, fishing, or getting into trouble somewhere, Cody was by his side. This didn’t change much as the years went on, with Floyd sneaking Cody out of school for the occasional auction sale or to enlist his help in loading  a “big buck” up.  In later years Cody and Floyd enjoyed going fishing together, and of course the occasional beer.

In 2016 Floyd moved to Parkland place where he lived until he passed away in 2024. The staff in Parkland enjoyed Floyd’s company and took extremely good care of him. Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff of Parkland.

Left to remember Floyd are his children Cody, Trent(Penny) 3 grandchildren, daughter Tannis(Carmen Hawreschuk), and his Sister(Annette).

In passing he will be reunited with his long time partner Janice, Father(Allan), Mother(Elsie), Brother(James), Sister(Shirley).

A Service will be announced at a later date.

Memorial contributions in memory of Floyd may be directed to the Melfort Fire Department and/or Parkland Place Residents Council.
